Job Description
E.M. Duggan is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator with 5–10+ years of estimating experience to join our Special Projects Division located at 179 Lincoln Street in Boston, MA. This position will play a key role in estimating HVAC projects throughout the Greater Boston area and surrounding markets, supporting a wide range of renovation, tenant fit-out, service, and fast-track construction projects.
As part of our Special Projects team, the HVAC Estimator will work closely with project managers, operations personnel, subcontractors, and clients to develop accurate and competitive estimates for projects of varying size and complexity. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple bids simultaneously, reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, soliciting vendor and subcontractor pricing, and identifying value-engineering opportunities.
This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects in occupied buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, commercial office spaces, life science environments, and other specialty construction markets. Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate HVAC estimates for commercial and industrial projects
Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete scopes of work
Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for HVAC systems, equipment, and associated materials
Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams during preconstruction
Participate in bid reviews, scope clarifications, and value engineering discussions
Assist with budget development, conceptual estimates, and design-build pricing when required
Maintain organized estimating files and documentation for awarded and non-awarded projects
Stay current on market conditions, labor rates, material pricing, and industry trends
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience estimating projects across multiple states or regions
Familiarity with Massachusetts market conditions and pricing
Background in design-build or negotiated work
Experience working closely with operations and field teams during preconstruction
Experience with QuoteSoft estimating program
$95,000 - $125,000
Working Conditions
Primarily office-based role working from E.M. Duggan’s Boston Office
Standard business hours, with additional time during peak bid periods to meet submission deadlines
Collaborative work environment with estimating, project management, and operations teams
Periodic site visits may be required to support estimating and preconstruction efforts
